Lap Band Spouse Forum?

Recommended Posts

Is there a place on this site for spouses of banders to discuss stuff? My wife is getting all the prerequisites completed to have surgery later this year. I would be curious to here what other spouses (husband or wives) are doing to support their mate before/during/after they get banded. What positive/negative affects has the band had on their relationships? I would get value from this... Anyone else?

i think it's a great idea for a unique group - banded couples.

my husband and i were banded together & it has been nothing but a positivie experience....from change in diet to consistent exercise; we really rely on one another & it's paying off.

he does not come on this site, but i'm sure each evening i discuss "something" from LBT when he's in town, and he enjoys the information.

I know there is a forum for family of banded people on here already. I forget where it is though. Look under social groups me thinks.

eh - that's really not the same. i read through (well the one thread) the other day it appeared to be a "supportive" page for individuals who have banded family members & how they - cope/deal/etc.

i get frequent PM's from couples doing this together, i think it's a different path than the above mentioned forum.

My wife is having the lapband surgery - I joined the forum to find means of supporting her as well to better understand the pre/post. I am having a tough time finding a thread that is actually specific to the spouse... Any suggestions?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
