Recommended Posts

I am dying to chew something crunchy and I am on mushies  What can I have to satisfy this craving?

What about a graham cracker? We give them to babies because they get mushy really quickly.....just a thought....

I know it's really hard when we are told not to eat something,, but I got through mushy stage just telling myself "its temporary" pretty soon I will be eating solids again. I was actually thrilled to eat mushy foods,, it was the liquids that drove me nuts.

Have you tried mashed potato ? that's pretty satisfying. Also tunafish mixed with lowfat mayo is good too.

Hope this helps you.. good luck!

I bought a slushy maker which made shaved ice and added crystal light to it. It helped satisfy my need to crunch.

Sugarfree Popsicles have been my vice since being banded. They are cold, sweet and I can bite it and chew it to liquid. Tropical Popsicles are my favorite.

On my mushies diet plan it says I can have plain crackers.

I was desperate one day and took a flatbread cracker, chewed it up and spit it out

A lot of people are allowed to have Saltine crackers during mushies because they break down really well. You may want to ask your doctor first, but if you have some saltines w/soup or with the light Laughing Cow cheese that come in really small wedges that may help. I find them VERY yummy and they take all of my cravings away. Publix carries whole graine saltines that are a little more healthy as well. The cheese will add a little Protein to your diet and and it's extremely soft. Hope this helps! :)

I have two more days until I go to solids and I can't wait! Good luck! :glare:

What kind of Vitamins are you on?

This is pathetic - but I SO looked forward to taking my two Flintstones chewable vitamins a day during liquid/mushies. They were my treat. I relished being able to chew them.

((hugs)) - This phase sucks but it will be over before you know it.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. The saltine Soup cracker just might do the trick. All I need is one or two. The graham cracker sounds good too. I want to be careful due to carbs. I have been telling myself that I have made it this far, what is another couple of days? My next f/u appt is still 10 days away (scheduled more than the normal 2 weeks due to MD being on vacation) so I will have a few extra days on mushies, but it actually hasn't been that bad. The food processor has helped greatly. I am not feeling deprived other than the craving to crunch! Thanks again :)

okay, I went grocery shopping today and I was thinking about my crunch craving and I came across Kosher baby dill pickles and I bought a jar. What do you think, okay to have while on mushies as long as I chew well?

Pickles are hard to chew to mush. 2 1/2 years out---pickles are still a slow go for me......I think I would avoid them.

I too was allowed crackers earlier than I expected. And I too use popsicles---although I prefer the mandarin orange----------Jules too bad we can't swap out our favorites!!! LOL

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
