New Life started June 6, 2008

Recommended Posts

I was banded June 6, 2008 and I have lost 21 lbs. My starting weight was 318 pounds. I haven't had a fill yet mostly because I'm a little apprehensive about it. I chew and eat slowly with no liquids and listen to my band. I feel that a fill will make it really uncomforatable for me. I feel I also need to lose more, and I intend to by limiting what I eat. Thanks!!

I was banded on 6-11 I have lost about the same as you with no fill yet. I have another follow appt on 8-7 and there was talk of a fill on that day. I too am a bit aprehnsive but I think it it's a little one I will be ok and not hating life too much. i already beat myself up enough as it is ahaha.

Do you feel like what you have lost since surgery is a good amount? Or do you feel like you should have lost more by now being over 6 weeks out?

Hi detroitdame75! I just received an appointment date of August 8 for my first fill. Isn't that neat? To answer your question, I guess the loss of 21 pounds is okay. I need to start exercising, which my body needs anyways, to lose more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
