Wow lots of Dr Snyder patients. He did my band on June 5th, 2008 I am just 7 weeks out. Lucky me may have another surgery soon as well by him. Seems my gall bladder decided to go on the fritz. I have an appt with him on Wed. Since he banded me, he will do the gall bladder too. I have loved everyone there. Amanda is awesome and truly understands. She picked up on my gall bladder during a fill when I mentioned an ache in my upper right side. She's had her's out too so knew just what I was talking about and scheduled the ultrasound. I've had one fill and am doing great, however, I need another and am hopeful to get it on Wed. but that depends on Dr. S and gall bladder I guess. Also, he has so many support groups at all times and all over the city. I had gone to 2 other seminars and called one other surgeons office that didn't do seminars and am truly pleased with my choice.

Sorry to hear that you have to have gall bladder surgery but you're in good hands.

Looks like you Dr. Snyder gals are doing great.

I think I have good restriction and don't need a

fill again yet.

do any of you that have posted here with surgery by Dr. Snyder go to his support groups? If so which ones? I've gone twice to the one at the Northglenn library, though it's not real close but probably about the closest to me. I also tried out the Monday night bariatric exercise class by Craig Shires in Thornton. I kindda liked it, but not the hard sell afterwards to hire him for personal training. I just self paid my surgery, don't have the $1400+ for personal training right now, but maybe sometime down the road I will want that.

I live out in the country, an hour east of Denver, so have only gone to the food meeting groups to learn what to eat. So far I have attended the pre-op, soft foods, and solid food classes. There is one for 3 month banders. Anyone know what the name of that class is so I can sign up?

I thought it was called the 3 mos and out class or Overview, something like that. I am signed up for it. It is August 18th from 6-9 pm in the Goodstein (I think that's the name) building across from Rose in the basement the last I checked. I just emailed Kim to sign up via the website. Maybe I'll see you there!

Very strange, look at this post I just found from a few days ago on a thread about Dr Snyder that hadn't had a response in over two years. Apparently people don't understand how 'threads' work and that they can move to a new place...

Still No Patient Recommendations on Dr. Snyder

Exactly, no definitive responses from Dr. S clients. My point exactly.

So I just wanted to share that, and get the word out that Dr Snyder has LOTS of patients on this site. and the quote Still No Recommendations... I can't even find that quote on that thread, lol. Am I reading this wrong, or is this person just a little mistaken?

Anyway, how is everyone? Hi nora!

BobbieDoll, did you ever go to that 3 mos and out class a week or so ago? I went it was great. Kim led it and did a good job. I got a whole new notebook now that I don't need all the pre op stuff and things.

Bikini,

I am doing great. Down 60 lbs. in less than 3 mos. Did have the gall bladder surgery set back but am feeling pretty good now. I did develop a rash on some of my incisions and he thinks it might be from the glue he closed me up with, however, I think it's then strange that it didnt' happen on my banding surgery too. However, every one there has been great in getting me in to see it and check it out etc. Just got my 3 mos labs back and 'I have the cholesterol of a 12 yr old!!'. So glad I did this.

Long2bt: I have not gone to the 3 month out seminar mainly because all of the classes are at night. Wish they would schedule some during the day. I do need to go though. How are you doing?

I'm doing great. I am down almost 60, holding steady at 59.5 GRRRR Every time I am about to hit a number ending in a zero I stall. The 3 mos class was very interesting, a lot of repeat info. but it was info that was more needed now. In the post op classes I was so busy concentrating on the new post op stuff I guess. They handed out new books too. I agree, wish some classes were during the day, I hate driving and even more parking down there at night.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
