Help Me!!!

Recommended Posts

I am pretty new to this site and very close to setting a date for surgery. i want to set my date for June 22. (we'll see!) What is freaking me out is that in the last 3 weeks I have put on 7 pounds!!!. I am freaking! For the last year i have been really stable and only moved a pound or two different - now that there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel it's like it is even harder to control myself. i am freaking out! i CAN"T gain any more weight - I will be out of my clothes - and I flat refuse to buy any more!! What do I do - did any of you guys experience this?

Jen,

From the date I knew that surgery was available locally (and knew I would have it) I gained about 12. I think it was the stress of making sure everything came together combined with the feeling that I didn't need to be as vigilant because I was going to have to be forever more.

Take a deep breath. In a couple of weeks you will be on the pre-surgery diet and that will put you mentally in focus. Just get everything prepared to get the surgery approved and date set first. Then worry about the weight.

BTW - For everyday clothes, I went to Walmart and bought a couple of pairs of elastic waist capris (about $10 I think). I figure they will be good to reduce stress on my stomach area post surgery and can always be pj's later. I may even get another pair tonight. I am scheduled for surgery in the morning and getting a bit impatient. I haven't got a thing done at work today.

dont let it stress you too much-perhaps you could go walking each time you get worked up-walking does a world of good for clearing your head and losing the pounds

We are at the same weight. I was 212 this morning - am so glad that I am not the only one! I don't want to gorge my self for the next month or what ever and put on even more weight. The idea about the clothes at Walmart is a great idae! I will go look tonight. I still have stuff to wear and with summer coming ( I teach High school) it won't be so much of an issue. You are teh best! I can't wait to make my appt. and start the process - I am so jealous that you get to go in tomm! I will be thinking of you! I can't wait for the day! I know your pain about not doing anything at work! :)

Hey Jen, I believe that everybody get freaked out. Some gain weight, some done. I gained weight, mainly due to the steroids for my asthma.

I totally did the same thing, but had to go on a diet 2 weeks before surgery and lost it all back. Too many last meals and eating whatever I thought I could never eat again...It is ok, Just remember not to overdo it and eat like normal until then...

I gained a few too and didn't do incredibly well with the preop diet, but success is still on its way. I have been doing good I think and feel positive about the process so far. I want to lose around 100 lbs..my goal is over the next 24 months so I'll just keep creeping along. Once you start heading in the right direction..it feels GREAT! It's fun to get you clothes altered knowing that the days of keeping 6 different sizes in the closets for years when you gain or lose 25 lbs is hopefully behind. Everyone at work is making fun of my "baggy pants" and thats a VERY GOOD THING!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
