Hi all,

I went for a fill on Friday May 20th. I was on liquids until Monday. Well now I can't eat anything, I tried tuna, with no luck, and I figured that if I can't eat tuna, then I shouldn't try any other meat. Everytime I try to eat, it comes right back up. I can get down liquids, so I am thinking I should do liquids and soft foods and if I am still having problems I will call my Dr. I hate to lose the fill, because now I have to pay cash (change of insurance companies) so $350.00 is alot for me, so I would like to make this one work.

Any suggesstions would be great. Things to try??

Thank you

Sue

Sue if you can do licquids without any problems, then I would give it a few days, you might still have some swelling. If you have pb'd anything at all, you need to go back to liquids for at least 24-48 hours. Anytime you pb, you need to do that. If you haven't gotten better in a few days, then you might want to consider a slight unfill. Just a very small amount can make a huge difference.

Betty is right, having as little as .2cc's removed can make it where you cane eat sloids comfortably and yet still haveenough restriction to still lose weight. I will second what she said on PBing,, if you ate tuna and it came back up then you PBed and anytime you PB it is reccomended to do liquidsfor 24 hours to reduce swelling from the PB, trust me on this one I speak from experience. If you continue to PB you can cause a vicious cycle of eating and Pbing and then you can get esophagitis which is what happened ot me, and it was not pleasant!

This same thing happened to me. After the fill I was o.k., then on the 3rd day I couldn't hold down anything, even Water. I was pbing, throwing up, it was terrible! After 4 days I had enough, I finally paged my doctor, and they told me to come in right away. Within 5 days I lost 3.8 lbs, so they knew I was not lying, they took out .25cc's and then a few days I was so much better.

Then I was saying I will NEVER have a fill again! Now 3 weeks later I need a fill, I can eat more and I am at a stand still in my weight lost.

Can somebody please explain to me about BPing? I heard about Slime. I was not aware of having to go back to liquid diet after fills? How long do I have to do liquids for after the fill.

I am suddenly realizing how a bariatric Doctor or dietician would be useful here and how grateful I am to have this forum. I am in an unusual situation as I live in China and the doctor here doesn't speak English very well and are not set up for handling foreigners, plus I think there is still a whole "I am a Doctor, I don't need to explain anything to you" attitude here.

I want to make sure I do the right things and look after my band for life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
