I just had my second fill last Friday. I have a 4cc band and there is now 2.3 ccs in my band. I don't feel any difference at all. with this much in my band shouldn't I feel something. I still have very very little restriction. I could literally eat as much as I want without feeling full, as long as I chew my food well. I am doing every thing I am supposed to do like not drinking before, with, or after meals. How long should I wait to ask for another fill?

Amber, if you are waiting to feel full with the band, it will not happen like it did pre band, you will never experience that "Thanksgiving Full" feeling again

When you say you are doing everything you are suppossed to, exactly what do you eat?

Do you eat your hard Proteins first? Do you eat atleast 60 grams of Protein a day? You should feel some restriction at 2.3 cc's

My concern would be that you are over half filled and just had surgery in March of 2005, if you have alot of weight to lose you only have 1.7 cc's of room left in your band. Have you been checked for a leak? When your doctor did your second fill did he pull out all the Fluid that he put in from the first fill? Was the ammount the same?

The other thing is, we need to work at tit to not eat until we are full any more, it is hard but eating until we are full is what got usall here in the first place. I now eat until I am satisfied and know I have eaten enough for nutritional reasons only, if I ate until I was full everytime, I wouldnt ever get there nor would I probably have lost 92 lbs in 13 months

I could literally eat as much as I want without feeling full, as long as I chew my food well.

Remember , just because you could, doesnt mean you should

We bandsters have you use some mental willpower also to make our bands work, we can not just rely on the band to do it all :)

wait a second - you just got my attention. When I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago, they told me that they had filled me in the OR but it was ok to fill me again. Coincidentally, they mentioned that when they were taking the old fill out there was hardly anything there. Could I have a leak? Oh no! Since I had the fill, I feel absolutely no difference in the amount that I can eat. I am really struggling to stay on track. Now I am wondering. Tell me what you think

Hi Eileen,

I don't know much about this, but my doctor feels that it is very important to remove all of the air from the tubing before the first fill. Did your doctor remove the air and the existing Fluid from your band when he gave you your recent fill? I'm not sure about the science behind this, but you may ask your dr. about it. Does your doctor do fills under fluoro? I would recommend getting one done under fluoro, mostly for your piece of mind. It's really neat to see everything actually working on the xray machine!!

I'm with you on missing that "Thanksgiving full" feeling....The thing is, that the band will not let you eat that much (which is the point huh!!!) I am filled to 2.5cc's in a 4cc band and have found that I am perfectly restricted WHEN my mind is in the right spot!! For a few weeks I was having some sweet tooth problems (ice cream too!!), but I've buckled down and have found that when I eat the right foods I am very satisfied and have finally seen the scale start to move down again! You really have to pay attention to those slight signals that tell you you've had enough!! It's a hard thing to learn.

Try the fluro, and good luck

Monica

My doctor does the same thing on the first fill, it is important to remove all of the air in your tubing or you could have less in your band then you originally thought when they go to pull it all out on your next fill.

Eileen,

I wanted to share something else with you as well. Like I said before I have 2.5ccs in my 4cc band. Well, I had my fill almost 3 weeks ago and have had pretty good restriction, but nothing major. Well all of a sudden for the past 2 days I've had HUGE restriction. It's not the time of the month so I know that's not it, and no more stress than normal LOL!! I did some research on people saying their fills kick in after 2-3 weeks and there are alot of us out there!! I really dont understand why that would be so, but I'm feeling it now! Perhaps you could wait it out for another week or two and see if you are one of us late restrictors!!!!

Good Luck,

Monica

Thank you for thinking of me! I really appreciate it! I last saw the doctor about two weeks ago and do not go back for another two weeks. I will see how I am doing by that time, but right now I am struggling to even maintain my weight!

Thanks again,

Eileen

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
