OK, so I just started this process about 4 weeks ago and I got a call yesterday from the surgeon telling me that I need my psych eval asap. I have already had that scheduled and they knew it so I could not figure out this phone call. When I called them back , I was advised that it was approved and just waititng for that! I could not and still cannot believe it!!! Now I am really nervous, I did not expect it to happen so fast. No 6 month diet or anything!! WOW! I will keep you updated, I get my surgery date next week!! Wish me luck!!!

Sounds like you guys in the States have a longer/different process than we do here in Canada. I filled out a form on line, had a phone consult with the Dr. and got my surgery booked all in the same day. I got my package 5 days later with all my info. I started those awful shakes 3 days ago and have lost 7 lbs already. I hate those shakes. Surgery date is July 29th

aaaaahhh, that makes sense to me now - My insurance doesn't cover lapband here in Canada so I am paying out of pocket so there wouldn't be any approval.

Congratulations! Remember getting the band is the first step only. Then it's how to live with the band/eat differently/change your habits to support being healthy and active! You can do this!!! Congrats!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
