Fear the feeling of a ...........

Recommended Posts

On a personal note, I am 4 days into my all liquid diet and feel the need to warn others about the feelings of "hey, I have to pass gas or fart." Do it in the bathroom, it's a trick!! Haven't had any accidents, but you know when your inner voice goes,"uh oh, pull it back, pull it back I think I should do this in the potty." Hope this makes everybody smile, but be aware it could happen to you. Susan

linksmom! that is too funny! I'm just finishing my 1st day of preop liquids...so far, so good, but peeing a LOT at the end of this day. Are you saying the diet is giving you diarrhea? What are you eating? I'm curious.

You know, one funny thing. I supervise a medical records dept and the other day, I had to bend over to pick something up and farted. In front of 2 staff. It was embarrasing, but oh well....that happens....and lately to me a LOT!

Your post made me smile and almost laugh but I held the laugh back. Laughing right now feels like my insides are ripping open…

This happened to me yesterday morning – 3 days post-op.

It was horrific! Thank GOD I was home where I could just get right in to the shower.:smile2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
