What does everyone do for a living?

Recommended Posts

I think Dawg and DeLarla lied about what they do.

They actually post messages on LBT all day long for a living.

Just another boring nurse! I am a LPN nurse in a clinic and work in Internal Medicine. I also have worked nursing home, hospital and clinic.

Also a mom, wife, and animal taker care of person.

Always wanted to do cosmetology, maybe one day!

I thought I responded to this. :) Ignore if it's duplicate.

I'm a "Senior Learning & Development Consultant" with one of the top F500 companies. That's not meant to brag at all, that's meant to say - "I"m f-in busy!" What that means in reality is that it's my job to figure out what people need to know about a new thing, or what knowledge gaps they have about an existing thing, and fill those gaps. It's also my job to look at how people do their jobs and figure out what we (the organization) can do to make them faster/more effective/more effecient/more motivated... you name it. In summary, it's the study behind how people learn & perform, and the science behind "training".

I also own my own business with DH, a web design/development company, specializing in small businesses. DH works as a Sr. Sys Admin, but also does freelance computer/network setup, DB backbone setup, etc. And I also contract to small businesses and/or local schools to review their curriculum and consult with them on what they can do to improve their instructional integrity.

I am a field assistant to a supervisor on a construction sight. I work in the office on sight and I love it. I also do computer work for the St. Louis Foster Care Coalition on the side. I work with all men and I have to be careful not to pick up some of the bad language.

I have been a kindergarten teacher for the last 11 years, but found out last month that the school will be closing in June (small, private school).

Now I have to find something new to do. I've been thinking of a franchise...teaching technology classes to students ages 3 years to 12 years.

We'll see.....

I am a childcare provider and have been for 24 yrs. I blame alot of my weight problem on that. You would think with all the moving around that I do I wouldn't be overweight - but I guess the eating wrong has made up for it completely.

Hi,

I am a career teacher. The first 16 years, I taught social studies to jr. high kids and history & sociology at the high school level. I got tired of hall duty, discipline, and 160 kids per day, went back to school and became certified to teach students with visual impairments. Now I have 19 students, aged 9 months to 20 years old. Some are "just" visually impaired, some are totally blind, 2 are deaf and blind, I have 3 Braille readers, and several kids with multiple impairments.

So everyday is a new experience! Gone are the days of asking a class, "Have I already told you this?" No more term papers to grade, but reams of special ed paperwork.

I love it, absolutely love it.

Colleen

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
