PB'd for the Time Today...

Recommended Posts

Okay. I am 10 months out from surgery, just got a fill yesterday and PB'd for the first time today. Kind of Scary, and I prided myself on not PBing ever before! For anyone who has had this experience, I hate to get graphic, but was the consistency like, well- phlegmy? I thought it was going to be different and was surprised. It was actually kind of like clear snot.

Again, sorry to be so graphic. It is just an all around unpleasant experience!

I was banded on June 19 and am having my first fill on July 31. I don't know what "PBing" is ... AUGH! Can you PM me and tell me what that is? Haha. I guess my morbid curiosity is my first priority... hehe...

Take care,

Sarah H.

Your not alone here.....I have been banded almost 15 months and just had my first PB ever a couple of days ago.

A PB is a productive burp. A burp that produces food or slime.

Mine was very productive. It was weird and I don't want to do it again. ALthough, it was better than sliming for 45 minutes.

Ha, I thought PB was just food! Then I have PB'd and had 2 sliming episodes which were just gross. I have found out now that my band will not tollerate spagetti bolognese as that's what I ate the times when it happened..

Looks like that is definately off the menu!

I still have to learn what foods come off of the list, but I just had a fill two days ago and was sipping Soup when I PB'd.

It was definitely not something I look forward to doing again.

I laughed reading your posts though. It's good to know I am not alone.

For Sassbucket and Sarah7, you will most definitely know what a PB is when it happens. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
