Mother of the bride looking for undergarment advise

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

My daughter is getting married in Oct. I wanted sooooo much to be in a smaller size by the wedding, but I have to get a grip and start looking for something to wear! At least I am happing to say I can fit into regular missy sizes, squeezing into possibly a 16 (maybe).

Does Spanx really hold you in, or should I be looking at the heavy duty stuff? I'm afraid this will put pressure on my band.

Has anyone had to dress up for a special occasion recently, and how did you handle it? Were you comfortable???

Thanks in advance.

Hi MaryRose, I just attended my daughters engagement party last Saturday afternoon. I have worn (spanks) and they work fine. I just wanted a little more support so I went for the heavy duty Macy's full body armor no problem with the band. Have a happy wedding I am sure you will look fab.

I like the Spanx better than the full girdles. I feel like they do just as good a job and are much more comfortable.

I love my Spanx, i got the kind that fit from the bottom of your bra down to a few inches above the knee. I swear they take a good 10 pounds off!

Hi, Mary Rose....and congrats on the wedding. My daughter got married two weeks ago. Fortunately, it was a beach wedding so I didn't feel the need to don my Spanx.

I have the one KeliTx mentioned and it IS a serious undergarment.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?
