Rash - 4 weeks out??!

Recommended Posts

hi there! my incisions have been itchy all along (i itch around them and that helps and i figured that was normal healing), so maybe this rash was under the glue and i didn't know it. but the glue is almost all off of them now (banded 4 weeks ago today!) and 3 of the incisions have a tiny rash of little bumps around them - not a lot of bumps but man are they itchy!

i called the surgeon's office and they are going to have a look tomorrow morning. they said to take liquid benedryl but i think i'll try not to since the rashes are so small. they also said NOT to use any kind of anti-itch cream on them.

anyone get a rash like this - not hives, weird to be not till now? unless it was hiding..

thanks!

I would take the benadryl if you have the day to sleep. Or call them and ask if claritin or zyrtec would work. If you can sleep I am jealous. And I am sure your GORGEOUS hound won't complain. My hounds are happiest when I am at home sick so they can nap on the bed with me.

hi, working today so can't sleep! darn! and my gorgeous greyhound just loves naps too! no nap today tho. i have my pants down under my tummy - so not rubbing on the incisions - and the itch is not that bad. maybe my pants have been bothering them. my incisions are all right across my stomach where my pants hit. will have to buy some 'low riders' tho not till i'm smaller! the surgeon said i'm 'short waisted' and she had no where else to put the incisions. small sacrifice in my opinion! thanks for the tips on claritin or zyrtec - i've had claritin before when it was a prescription for seasonal allergies so maybe i'll get that!

greyhoundmom ~ I had a rash too that started about 10 days after surgery and lasted a few weeks. My doctor said sometimes people get alergic reations to the glue on the steristrips. I was able to use cortizone cream and the benadryl spray which was a big relief. If there is any glue left on you it can easily be removed with some peroxide.

hi all, saw the dr's PA- it's just as you said - small allergic reaction to the glue. can use anti-itch cream (around not on the incisions) and need to keep the waist of my pants off them for a while. thanks all!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
