Hi, what I'm going through is my own fault but I'm worried about slippage.. I had my 3rd fill last week and I was taking it real slow and then last night I was starving and I ate a piece of chicken to fast. I slimed soooo much then chicken came back up and since then I can't keep anything down. I'm in a lot of pain too. It felt like heartburn so I tried to eat some fat free ice cream thinking it would soothe the pain/acid but nope, I slimed after that too and it seems like it is worse now. How do I know if my band slipped during all my throwing up last night? Thanks so much for any help. i'm really worried. I've never had acid reflux before so not sure what it is supposed to feel like or not feel like and is it common to have heartburn this bad after throwing up a lot? Thanks again.

Jack is right on the money. Take heed to some good advice. Try a couple of days on liquids. If you continue to have burning in the chest area, or burning in the back of your throat, that's heartburn/acid reflux and you will need to contact surgeon for band adjustment.

Jennifer,

I felt the same way last week. It was also after my 3rd fill. Post op and first 2 fills were fairly uneventful. This 3rd fill is more like what I envisioned life to be like on the band wagon. I made myself sick and I am always worried about messing up my band. Thank God the band is pretty tough and I am learning to follow the rules better than I had been.

Hope all goes well for you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
