Stupid Question

I have been banded for 5 weeks, and to the best of my knowledge it stands for productive burping. This means that if you eat to much or take too big of bites that we burp it back up. At least this is my understanding of what it means, I have only pb one time, but that was enough for me.

Ummm sounds exciting LOL!! Can't wait

Oh you don't want this to happen but once then its OMG how can I keep this from happening!!! LOL!!

Pb stands for productive burp! You get this really bad tight feeling in your chest then the next thing you know your not sure if you are going to burp or throw up!! Well then you kinda gag and you feel like your saliva gets slimy and then it comes up. Almost like a mini throw up. This usually happens when you didn't chew well enough took to big of a bite.

Bandmesoon, have you used the "Search" feature on the top bar? You can type in whatever word and it lists all the threads with that word in it from newest to oldest. That might keep you from going crazy trying to find out something. Or you can just do what you did and ASK! Anxious to see your sig...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
