Two week followup and I feel great!

Recommended Posts

I went in and saw Dr. Jay yesterday for my 2 week followup to my surgery. I stepped on the scale and was I pleasantly surprised! I had lost 28.5 pounds in 3 weeks! He assured me that that wouldn't happen all the time but I told him I planned on being an overachiever. I know it's not the norm but boy it sure helped jump start me on my long journey of weight loss....I have quite a spell to go. I was so excited I just wanted to share my news with everyone. Plus I got to start mushies today and I have never loved a bowl of oatmeal so much in my whole life!

Wow Becky!!!! What a great check up! Flavored Cream of Wheat is yummy, too. And guacamole!!!!!!!! Just by the spoonful and well-chewed. I eat lots of avocados these days. Don't know if that's good or bad, but they sure satisfy and taste great.

Congrats and keep up the good work!

Hi Becky, I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well! I go to my post-op appointment on Tuesday. I ate very finely ground chicken salad (my first attempt at meat) and I had no issues with it. It was sooooo good. I ate about 2 tablespoons. Keep up the good work!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
