Hi i have got a date through to see the consultant at the hospital on the 21st july,

I have already had blood tests done at my GP (doctor's surgery) & he said all were fine to them

Normally this used to be done at the hospital but they are doing blood testing with your local doctors to cut the waiting list down as that procedure is normally the first thing they do at the hospital

So my question is.... what will happen in the next stage when i go see them at the hospital ?.. when do i see a dietition ? etc

Im from the UK & going to Derby hospital..any advice greatfully appreciated

hi debbie

I was banded on 30th may at derby .

I take it that 21st july is your first vist? on my first vist I was weight then see the deitician then the consultant. then was ment to have bloods taken. except they forgot about me and all had gone home...

I was told that I would have to be approved by the board of docs ect at hospitial. then be put on the waiting list.six months is the time.

I waited six months from my first apptment till day of op so was well pleased. didnt even know that i was on waiting list until I had letter to go to derby for my pre-op asment. glad i didnt know before as im a worry wart lol.

I was worried if doing the (right) thing!!!!! but its the best thing i done in my life. allways been big. had it done to spine giving up on me...

I lost 19 lbs since 30th may 08. in total from nov o7 3 stone and 2 lbs yay so pleased never got past 2 and half stone before.!!!!!!!!!! so that wont be going back on.

I have to go back on 18th july to see the deitician again. but a long way for 15 min appt as i live in south lincolnshire. but heyho it will be worth it.

hope this has helped ?

Ann

hi debbie

yes they are all nice docs nurse i thought they would judge me. but no they didnt for the first time ever nobody judge me. so that was good.

becuase when i went to local hospitial for pcos treatment thats all they went on about my weight. and it didnt matter if i only lost a little bit of wieght it wasnt good enough for them.!!!!

when i went to derby for my first appt I took all my slimming world books with me with my different wieght losses over the last five years. they didnt want to look at them i was suprised. its been the same 2 and half stone on and off in last five years. so its good to get past that mile stone now!!

I lost weight before my op becuase i wanted to. as when my back went last jan last year. the more weight i put back on the worse it got couldnt even walk to end of my drive. im a big walker or was. lol

up until jan 07 I had gone from a size 26/24 to a size 20 fitted trousers no elastic in site.!!!! was well pleased with myself then my back finally gave up on me (curved spine) and slipped disks. hips out of line. when i had my spine straightened out by the chyropractor i gain 3 inches in hieght!!!

so the weight came back on again.. doc refered me to derby. and the rest is history as they say.

ITS THE BEST THING I HAVE HAD DONE!!!

Im now 3 stone and 2 lbs lighter yay I go back to derby on 18th july to see the deitician.

I live in a small road called lutton marsh.. its about 17 miles from spalding.

Hi Ann,

I am so proud of you for your weight achievement well done

My weight has been a yo yo for the last 10 yrs, when i lose weight i can normally lose between 2-3 stone but then put it back on & more,

I quit smoking after smoking for 23 years & im only 37, yikes, i was rushed to hospital 2 yrs ago thinking i was having a heart attack cos of my weight, but luckly it turned out to be muscles in my chest i had damaged, & i saw the top heart surgeon & he said if i didnt quit smoking it would kill me..NOT the weight, to which i was amazed, as i thought it would be the other way round..so i quit there & then & that was 2 years ago in april & i dont miss them one bit..in fact i hate the thought that i was a smoker..& thats coming from someone who said i would never give them up.........so why the hell cant it happen for my weight?...Thats why i am going for this op..i have tried so hard to lose weight but the damn thing wont shift, no matter how hard i exercise & be good..

Its so ironic as my grandfather died of a heart attack, my father died of cancer & my sister is full blown diabetic & NONE of them are over weight...its so strange how things are thrown at us....

The only thing that bothers me is i keep reading horror stories on here with people not coping with their band, being sick, bleeding, rushing to a&e, calling their doctors...is it really as bad as that? or maybe there not following the correct procedures ?

How long was you in hospital fr & are you all recovered from the operation now?

what kinds of foods are you eating?

I know spalding i have a cousin lives there, he is a policeman

Debbie. x

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
