July Butterflies Master Thread

Recommended Posts

I just had a msg yesterday from here that actually turned out to be a yr old, but I am glad to be back on. I am down 80pds and seriously holding at that...but I still have about 40pds left to go - finding it difficult to break thru. But I got a Gazelle at a garage sale for $15 and I am using that.

It has been a very very difficult year for me, my Daddy past a yr ago this July 1st, my marriage broke up this past February and I was sent to an oncologist 6 wks after my Dad passed cuz of some blood tests I had, they have been trying to figure out what is going on with me, very high red blood counts, tired...since May my left booty and leg are numb and in the last 9 days I have been having strange vertigo...not the kind where you turn your head and the world spins, have had that...this is when I lower the upper part of my body, I lose balance. I am going to a consult to have a nerve biopsy done next week, so we will see what that brings about. Since I was a teen, 3 things constantly have come up for me Lupus, MS & Leukemia...what is it about those 3 things makes completely different doctors go after the same thing? In my family tests mean nothing. My Daddy hadnt been well, been taken to the hospital, had numerous, blood tests, mri's, ct scans and NOTHING showed up, nothing...then on May 19th last yr his colon ruptured and when they went in they found 4th stage cancer - talk about a dbl barrel shotgun! If one didnt get him - the other would. How can one have 4th stage cancer an it not show up? He survived the rupture and the cancer took him on July 1st, 3 days before their 50th wedding anniversary...they were going to renew their vows. Devastated family for sure, but he was such a good Daddy, a Godly man, and a father to the fatherless....there were over 350 ppl who came to pay respects, we stood for over 4 hrs without a break, it was astounding. As you can tell I miss him very much. Yes they had been married on the 4th of July, funny thing, my Daddy came here from Holland and became an American citizen on July 1st and then a citizen of heaven on the same date.

Anyway, I didnt mean to get off on a tangent. It has been amazing that I have held at the 80pds this yr. I have found 2 things to be amazing in the last 2 yrs...I have aquired a like for veggies and not ever having a sweet tooth before surgery, I find that am completely addicted to ice cream. My motto has become *obey the tummy* due to the fact that one day it will like what the previous day it completely objected to...so I am not going to eliminate a food, just cuz one day, it didnt like it...why does that happen? It is a funny thing to find I can eat popcorn, yeah like a med size bag, no prob, bob! What is up with that? Tummy pretty consistantly doesnt like pork anymore, which is a shame, cuz I LOVE it. But I do eat alot more fish and veggies and Soup and fruit and Kashi Go Lean oatmeal - love that stuff! Anyone else, seem to have the same issues? I have only had 2 fills, I think that is kinda interesting in light of everyone else...isnt it?

So So sorry for your troubles and am so happy to see you back!!!!

Thank you so much ladies!!!!!!

Well, I no change in weight. I am gonna weigh on Friday and have another metabolism test to see what my calorie intake should be. 1300 calories are too much. I haven't moved the ticker in weeks, and I doubled my walking. I am going to ask Dr. Davis to give me the exact amount of carbs, fats, and Protein I should be eating per day. I don't think I was ready to go back on food all day. I need more restriction in my diet. We will have VICTORY!!!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, I already have and it's just starting. Took my DD's to the spa for mani's and pedi's and a little waxing then to lunch. I luv having a day with my girls, They are way to few and far between. So i'm feeling pretty good today and feel like I lost some weight even if it was in my wallet (lol) But not complaining it was so worth it. And I have hot pink toes as proof!!

I just got back from getting my metabolism test. Last year it was 1300 calories......today it was 1130. No wonder I haven't lost in awhile. So, the dr said I can only eat 1100 calories a day, and boost my exercise. I guess I will exercise 3x a day. He said if I eat 900 a day ....with exercise I will go into starvation mode and my body will hold on the the weight. Well, if there is ever a famine I will live a long time.

It is weird how every dr is different I am supposed to eat 800 - 1000 a day basically very each day so my body does not think it is starving

I think he said 1100 because if I exercise and burn up 300 calories that will take me down to 800. I was at 800-900 while I was on shakes. Hopefully, this 1100 is a temporary thing I will boost my metabolism with extra exercise. We will see.

Kimaly, I am just trying to keep my calories down. I ate fish this evening, but then I ate some crackers UGH! Anyway, I am getting ready to go walk. I walked this morning too. My weekend was quiet......I loved it!

I eat crackers from time to time, I love the reduced fat nabs. I'm having kinda of a hard time getting meat in lately, Not because it won't go down but because I'm so blasted sick of fish and chicken. Days like today I'm almost sure if we can have it it's plain and just doesn't taste good. I hate when I feel like this because I have to force myself to eat and when I do it's most likely not the choice I should have made. Oh look I just grabed Pork rinds out of my desk as I sit here writting this. Nope, Not the best choice.

I thought I had posted my loss last week.....sorry. I lost 3lbs. I guess eating fish paid off. Now I am battling for the next weigh in.....probably this friday. My friend had hip replacement, and my mother needed me three days last week. Oh, gotta tell you a new dessert I made. SF white chocolate pudding.....make it up then add fresh sliced strawberries, fresh blueberries, fresh blackberries, and a sliced banana. Top with SF Cool Whip. I even sprinkled pecans on top. Butterflies......it is YUMMY!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
