Hello Everybody

My name is Shavone and I will be having my surgery on July 9th 2008. I live in Atlanta Ga. It's good to see a site like this so I can chat with fellow lap banders or possible prospects. I am 32yrs old, 5'5 and weigh 242. My highest weight topped off at 252. My weight has been an issue for the last ten years. I am hoping this surgery will be the added tool needed to help me achieve my goal weight. So go shead ask questions, ttul

Congrats! I too am in the Atlanta metro and was banded on 4/19. I am so happy with it and would do it again tomorrow if I had too. Who is your doc and where are you having this done at? I actually went to Mexico as my insurance would not pay, but my Father went through Emory for his. This is a great decision and you will be very happy!!!!

Welcome Shavone!

Looks like we both started out at about the same weight, I was 5'4" and 234lbs.

I wish you all the best and hope to see you here regularly, it is a great place to get info and support.

My pre-op diet consisted of: 40 - 50 carbs per day, High Protein, do not count calories, liquids, broths, jello's, etc. The last day was solid liquids and clear to see through.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
