Lump Under Incision

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone....I was starting to feel bad because I seem to be skating through this whole experience but now I have a question....

The incision on my right side has a lump under it....not particularly painful but I know it's there...does anyone have any thoughts on what this is? I'm 3 weeks post-op today..I see my doc tomorrow and will ask him but was curious if anyone else has had this..

When I sneezed a while back and thought I'd torn a muscle..maybe I did the real damage at the incision site? Is it possible for scar tissue to build up this quickly?

All input appreciated...

Thanks

Do a search for "seroma" and you'll find a thread on this kind of thing. If that's what you have it's not serious and may go away on its own. Good luck!

No, my port is on the left...I think this is where they went in to lift the liver....?

Yep, directly under the scar...my girlfriend said it could be a piece of suture left inside...I don't think it's an abcess...no redness and only slightly tender....

I looked up seroma...THAT sounds disgusting...not sure I could do it myself....big baby that's me!

I know what you mean about the port bump...I had to put on a new bandage last night and I swear I could see a bump where the port is...this could get ugly....wonder if they can reposition it.....

Went to my doc and he said the lump was normal and should go away in a few months...

Oh.....I am so glad you said that because I have the same thing. It does seem to be getting smaller though. I go to the doctor on Tuesday for my follow up appointment. I'm glad you are okay!

I wore a belt my husband had for his back the first few weeks. It has velcro on it and is about 6 inches wide, you can put it on tight or loose,I even slept in it. I noticed when I took it off each day to shower that it really helped to suck my stomach in. After I had my first fill my Doctor pressed on the port to put the needle in and since then the port seems to have moved back so I don't notice it so much.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
