My name is Vanassa I had my lap band on Oct 5, 2005. I weighed 243.5 the morning of surgery. I now weigh 172.00. I go back and forth between 5 lbs and 7 lbs. most of the time. I have been at this for a year now. I was in a size 22 and now in a 10. I know that others have lost more then I, but they also have more then likely did the Gym thing where I did not. I do live a very active life just not as active as it should be. I know that if I did go to the gym I could lose more but for now I am very happy and I have never felt so good in my life. I did not do this so that I was in a size 2 or 6 I just knew that I did not feel good.

Right after I had the surgery I said I would never go thought that again. Well let me tell you if I had to do it over I would without question. I tried everything you could think of to lose the weight before. Now I just maintain with out any kind of problems. I just went for a fill 3 weeks ago and that was the first one since Nov 2007.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
