Debbie, I'm so excited for you. This is the beginning of a whole new you. My lap-band is the best thing I have done. You'll get tired of all the Protein Drinks, I never thought I would miss chewing something so much, but it is well worth it. I've lost 41 lbs. in the 3 months since I was banded on July 24, 2008, and I feel better than I have felt in years. Whatever you do, follow your doctors instructions on what to eat. All doctors give different directions, make sure you do what yours says. I've has 2 fills and they aren't bad at all. You can do this. One of my greatest joys is to see how my clothes swollow me now. The first few weeks are tough, but you can handle it. Best of luck to you. I'll pray for you.

Debbie, Tomorrow is your big day. I'm tickled for you. Keep positive thoughts, this is going to be the start of a new you. My surgery was fine, very little after pain. I was up walking in a few hours and home the next afternoon. I have back issues and have been taking pain management shots and I feel better than I have in decades. Just the 40+ lbs. I've lost so far has made a world of difference. Constitapation was the only problem I had and but once I started eating more veggies things got better. If you have problems don't hesisate to call your doctor, that's what they get paid the big bucks for. Next time we chat you'll be banded. Good Luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
