Yes...I have restriction...Now I'm afraid to eat anything solid

Recommended Posts

I had my 3rd fill last Thursday and now have 3.7 in a 10 cc band.

Do I ever have restriction...or is it just certain foods???

I now cannot eat the following:

Bread

Bagels

Pasta

I started eating solid foods today and these three things came back up today. TMIF...Sorry...

Now I'm deathly afraid to even eat tuna or my Salsa chicken that is very tender.

I cannot live on Soup and yogurt.

I've been on liquids since my last bad episode with the Pasta. I'm going to add mushies for dinner tomorrow.

Any ideas...

Thanks

bread, Bagels and Pasta are things that aren't going to go down well for most bandsters. I'm not surprised those things came back up with good restriction. Ideally, you should be able to eat enough solid food, but I'd stay away from the bready, doughy type of foods like that. If you got stuck or PB'ed today, I'd do liquids the rest of the day, then try regular foods again tomorrow. Just be cautious, eat slowly, chew well, and stay away from things you know don't go down well.

When you finally get that restriction you have to really start remembering all of the things they warned you about like eating slow, chewing everything to death, and watching out for breads and pastas. When I first got banded, I thought, HA I can still eat this stuff and I am losing weight, but when I got good restriction, I slowly learned that I was not quite as invincible as I thought I was. I generally avoid breads, rice, pastas, lettuce, steak and most beef.

On the upside, the weight is falling off and at a good rate. It is like my body is telling me this is how I want to be fed and it is slowly but surely going back to the way it used to be.

I have really good restriction and don't have a problem with tuna salad (I make my own with no sugar added pickle relish, onions, and low fat mayo) It is less dry than plain tuna, Soft chicken should be fine as long as you eat very, very slowly with tiny bites. I haven't tried bread but Pasta gets stuck. Try to stay away from the liquid calories (yogurt, Soups, shakes, etc.) because you don't feel full on them.

Hang in there! The weight loss is worth the effort.

I have 5cc in a 10cc band. I had 5.5cc but was overtight and EVERYTHING came back up evem liquids so I had to have an emergency unfill of 0.5cc. It helped thank goodness. I also cannot eat breads or steak/beef or Pasta. I do very well with baked chicken, fish, and tuna.< /p>

I had 5cc in an 8cc band and could eat almost anything, except in the morning. However, I had another 1cc last week and am now struggling to eat anything at all.

I have been able to eat things in the past week so I dont think that I am too tight but today I couldnt even eat a couple of spoonfulls of the middle of a baked potato without pb'ing. I am pb'ing on everything.

I dont want to eat mushies or liquids so can you share what you can eat and what you cant. I also see that others on here are saying that if you pb you should go liquid for a day.

How many of you do this and why is it necessary?

I really need to relearn how to eat with this band. Any advice will be gratefully received.

There are lots of "solid" foods I can't eat anymore. Steak and dry chicken are out of the question. So is bread. Know what? That's why I got the band. I don't need to be eating that stuff because that's what got me fat to begin with. I'm perfectly happy with grilled fish, green veggies, and a skinnier behind, thank you very much!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
