How much is too much?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill on Wed. and I seem to be doing ok. The dr. told me he injected 5cc. Isn't that a lot for the first fill? How much is the max?

You must have a 10cc band. I have a 4cc band, so I am not familiar with the standard first fill for the 10cc. It varies so much from person to person, it's impossible to say how much is too much. You will know if it is too much! You will have difficulty with many foods and even liquids if you are too tight.

I have a small LAp-Band Ap, I think the max amount the put in it is 10cc.

I had to be unfilled @ 2 weeks post-op because it was too tight for me. Now I only have 2 cc ad I feel it is Ok for now until I recover 100%. I have lost 26 pounds in 30 days..

I feel comfortable like this. I won't rush it.

Your first fill will generally be your largest one, but 5 cc does seem like a lot. I have a 10 cc band and my first fill was 3 cc. It lasted quite a while. The last two have only been 1 cc, so I'm where you are after 3 fills. If you start throwing up or can't keep down Water or eat 3 meals aday, call your doc. It's okay to have a little taken out if you need to to be in optimal health.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
