First Fill Today

Recommended Posts

It was so easy and painless-Don't listen to the hype!

He had me lie down, tighten up my abs (like a sit-up), swabbed me with alcohol and after feeling around and missing it once-hit his target and injected me-I felt no pain, just a little prick-much easier than my flu shot!!

Put a bandaid on it and off I went.

I took 3cc and feel fine. I just had some Tomato soup-went down easy.

That is great. My first fill experience was not as nice but I found out that I need to lie down when I get my fill because I get dizzy if standing. Live and learn. Since it is your first fill it might settle after a couple of weeks and then one day you will wake up and the coffee doesn't go down as easy. Once you feel that make sure you take it easy. I notice that after each fill it takes a couple of weeks to really feel the restriction and one day it just settles and you have to sip and have liquids for your meal or mushies. Then other days I can eat fine and not as much restriction. It has a mind of its own that is for sure!!!

Glad your fill went well. The first one is always the most scary because you just don't know what to expect.

I found it to be very easy, too. Every fill so far has been uneventful - not painful AT ALL. My doctor has me put my arms behing my neck - somehow it makes the port access easier for him.

Good luck - let the weight loss commence!!

you REALLY calmed my nerves cuz my first fill is in 2 weeks & when i was in the drs office another patient scared me to death talking about his experience... i think if i can handle tattoos, piercings & childbirth a fill should be a walk in the park! hopefully...

P.S.-

The area he injected was right on and along the port incision site.

It is still quite numb-surgery deadens some of the nerves there...makes it less painful...

Some of us are big babies:scared2: others are tough guys...

If you are a big baby (you know who you are:wink2:) expect it to hurt...

If you can tolerate giving blood, and getting a flu shot-this is a piece of cake! :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
