Hi Plain,

I must clarify....I would'nt say that I "support" Ron Paul... I felt attracted to some of his tax reform proposal, but let me specify that I only like some of his ideas, not all, the idea of low taxes overall I like, limited government, letting younger people opt out of social security and medicare and concentrating on those that must be really dependent I find a pretty good idea, I liked the concept behind his idea of eliminating the federal reserve, I know that's "a bit" radical...., and I realize that these ideas could be unrealistic as you said, but you can't say I didn't warn you..... I can be a little financially clueless sometimes.. so you are probably right...but I admit that some of his ideas sound good to me, at least theoretically, when I heard them I kind of felt like he actually gets it... but please please, PLEASE, ONLY in that way, the financial way... I don't agree with his idea of reducing the military AT ALL. and his views on foreign policies are CRAZY! and for that alone I could never vote for him, I think I've said it before, but I'll say it again, if I had to choose between a strong domestic policies or a strong foreign policies candidate, I'm going with the strong foreign policies any day...

BTW Plain, when you said.... " No, of course it's not right. I only posted that because so many (mostly liberal) people want to skewer Bush for "meddling in other countries governments". Of course it's not right.....but Bush wasn't the first prez to do it."

I knew what you meant, that's why when I agreed with BJean in my previous post, I added "crap happens" at the end of my comment... by my poor choice of those two words I meant that although it's not right, it happens... and not just to W Bush..., so I hear you and I agree with you.

BJ, I think I'm hurt by you saying that my powers of reason and logic astound you... does that mean you think I'm crazy?:frown: hehehe... ok, you don't have to answer that....

I'm sorry again for such a long post.... before and now....

I'm voting for McCain. Obama doesn't have enough experience and I like McCain's attitude and stability. Plus Obama has too much negative baggage attached to him. Oh and the final nail? Oprah supports Obama. No-thank-you. Her support was enough for me to really dislike Obama (although he's given me plenty of other reasons as well).

True. If only theory meshed well with reality, it'd be a much more simple world. I am 1000% for less government intervention in private citizen's daily lives (including the chance to make our own choices in all sorts of areas....retirement, healthcare, schooling, everything), but I think this is one of those "hard to get the geenie back in the bottle" sort of things. Once the government is in control of something, they very rarely cede that control. That's why I think it is soooooo uber-important to be extremely careful when thinking about crafting new laws. I guess I'm Ron Paul-esque in that manner.

OMG I couldn't agree more! on everything! I'm concerned with public health care, that scares me.

Ugh....healthcare. I work in a hospital, and believe me.....all hospitals live by the insurance reimbursement and die by it, as well. The idea of possibly socializing our healthcare system makes me verrrrrrrrrry nervous indeed!

Plain,

My girlfriend would look at your post and turn to me all wide eyed and scream "SEE! I told you" or "Ha! The smart guy agrees with me!"

We obviously have different views on the issue. At first I was for it, but from listening to her and reading, I am not sure how I feel anymore...

On the other hand, I do think that insurance companies should have some sort of monitering system. My roommate (who I have known for 20 years- since kindgarton) had to fight the insurance every step for basic medical treatment when her mom was dying of cancer. Watching what she went through and knowing that her mom paid her insurance payments everyday for years and years and years...well. They need to be held accountable. Not just civilly. Fighting the insurance takes time they you don't have when your sick, and if you sue after the death you may or may not get some money, but what is money- You can now afford the procedure that your loved one needed and it's too late. I know they are a business, They want to make money, but the last thing you need when you are trying to help feed and bathe your mother is to fight with the insurance company about admitting her to the hospital when she has a bladder infection and her body is too weak to fight it off anymore or paying for the hospice she so desperately needs.

I don't know how to fix this problem. I don't want the goverment to take over healthcare...they seem to mess anything they take over up. Yet, how could we force the insurance to stop making false promises and collecting your payments to deny coverage when you need it?

Oh yes, you must see it so closely working in a hospital...that's exactly right, you know I think that some people believe that in Karl Marx’s utopic communist system that this is actually a good idea. We have issues with the government running the DMV , imagine them running our health care decisions. I'd like to say to the people that are for government run health care to imagine W. Bush running their health care plan.... would they like that? Sure, as much as I would like Obama running it...:(

There is so much I could say about public health care, been there, done that, lived under it for almost 15 years, particularly under one that Michael Moore portraits in his movie as being one of the best health care systems in the world....the biggest lie ever said and total BS.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
