Almost Ready For Work

Recommended Posts

I have the same question. I'll be going back to work next Tuesday and planning to keep a stash of low carb slim fast, Water, yogart, pudding, cottage cheese & fruit at work. My office mate has a small fridge so that helps alot. I also want to buy a small portable blender or mini food processor to have on hand. Found some good ideas on this link:

I Will Be On A Soft Diet When I Return To Work And Was Wondering How You Guys Set Up You Meals At Work

We've got a break room with a refrigerator, so I just bought little individual sized containers of cottage cheese to keep in there. It was easy to just grab one of those. When I first came back to work, I was eating at my desk while reading Lapbandtalk.

We've also got a blender in the break room that the body builder guys in the office use to mix their Protein drinks. I used it to mix my drinks also, telling them I was just trying to increase my Protein consumption. If I hadn't had a blender at work, I would have bought a stick blender and used it for the drinks. I love the stick blender I have at home, and use it way more than the regular blender.

I always prepared my foods at home and put them in the fridge at work. For Breakfast, I usually have grits or oatmeal and a yogurt. I made a yumy chicken salad (recipe on here from Georgia Girl) that I'd blend up so it mushy. I also kept Jello on hand. If I didn't bring anything I'd go to Wendy's and get a potato - that was good for a change. I made and still make sure that I don't have Water in front of me while I eat. If it is in front of me it is hard not to take a drink. I am much more of a "planner" than I was before. I used to just wing it.

Good luck to you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
