Low Carb, Low Fat, Low Sugar anyone...

Recommended Posts

I would love some suggestions on appropriate things to eat during this pre-op diet. My doc said I could follow the Atkins diet, but I've never done it before, so any tasty suggestions, I would TRULY appreciate. Thanks so much!:biggrin2:

If you google low carb luxury they have some really good recipes there. Though...I would try to make them a little lower in fat that what they make. Use as lean of meat as possilbe....try ground chicken instead of hamburger.

My doctor put me on 60g protein/20g of fat/ 10g of sugar diet..

So I did Fat free Sugar Jello, Make Turkey broth (I put a lot of veggies when I made the broth and just strained them out later, atleast I get the veggie Vitamins in the broth).

I hate making Protein shakes myself. So I found a pretty good ready to drink shake by EAS AdvantEdge it has 17 g of Protein. I don't recommend other EAS shake, because they can be pretty yucky. but the AdvantEdge Choc fudge tastes like when you mix cocoa with fat free milk. So it's pretty good!

Are you totally on liquid? If you can eat mushy you might want to try blending egg whites, silken tofu, and thin deli slices together then cook it in a microwave. You can get about 15-20g protein that way.

I LOVE LOVE my Protein drink -- Nature's Best Zero Carb Isopure - pineapple/orange/banana flavored. I actually prefer it just stirred with Water & ice rather than in a smoothie form. 2 scoops of powder is 50g of protein!! I just ordered the same company, Low Carb Dutch chocolate Protein mix. I need that afternoon drink/sweet kinda taste and a pick me up so I don't load up on carbs at dinner.

I'm trying to eat chicken, turkey, ham, pork, ground turkey, any kind of fish or seafood. I'm still pre-surgery too. I'm trying to make my diet 80% protein/20% carbs. But that's me/my doc.

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
