  1. the small fish oil you found at walmart....what brand is it? that's what i'm looking for is a small fish oil. does it taste fishy? thanks!
  2. I LOVE LOVE my Protein drink -- Nature's Best Zero Carb Isopure - pineapple/orange/banana flavored. I actually prefer it just stirred with Water & ice rather than in a smoothie form. 2 scoops of powder is 50g of protein!! I just ordered the same company, Low Carb Dutch chocolate protein mix. I need that afternoon drink/sweet kinda taste and a pick me up so I don't load up on carbs at dinner. I'm trying to eat chicken, turkey, ham, pork, ground turkey, any kind of fish or seafood. I'm still pre-surgery too. I'm trying to make my diet 80% protein/20% carbs. But that's me/my doc. Good luck!
  3. Hi Dana, I'm pre-surgery also. I've been reading some really good books. You might check out 'before and after' by susan leach and also 'the real skinny on weight loss surgery' by julie janeway & karen sparks. the latter book spells out info very clearly (and humorous too btw!). they are both pretty easy reads. To answer your question, from what i understand, you can still eat nearly everything (after a period of time) you could before. The band restricts the amount of food (for awhile anyway), not really the type/quality/kinds of food you can eat. From what I'm learning, to utilize this tool successfully and for the longhaul (like the rest of my life!), you have to make lifestyle changes forever. Yes, you can have a bite or 2 of stuff, but just b/c ice cream will go down, doesn't mean you should eat it everyday. I understand this is just a tool, you still have to have control over what you eat. Just my thoughts and from what i've read so far. - Joni
  4. Hello, My psych doctor gave me a list of books. I haven't read any of them yet. I'm all about budget, so i'm checking them out from my local library. here's the list: mindless eating by brian wansink the emotional first + aid kit by cynthia ?? WLS for dummies eating well after WLS exodus from obesity: the guide to long term success after WLS anyone read any of these? (that hasn't already been noted above). Joni
  5. Becca, I understand your confusion and frustration. i'm still in the very pre-op stage and in seeing the psych md, he told me the same thing! i was MAD! (and later cried, started to research RNY b/c of his suggestion and then went back to my original decision of LB). So, find a doctor that is supportive of you and your decision. Good luck Joni in KC
