whoa. just had first pb episode.

Recommended Posts

well, nearly 3 months in and i had my 3rd fill today, complete with my first productive burp (pb). that'll teach me to finish off the last few bites of tofu. all in all, not a horrible experience (sliming/spitting/regurgitating food) but it got me to thinking: now what?

what exactly does one do after a pb? i know now to be a bit more careful and pay better attention to my body's signals - is there anything else? should i just drink liquids for the next few hours/days?

what does everyone else do after a pb? anything special or do you just continue on your normal schedule?

Thanks!

I had my first pb last week - I was working a 36 hr shift didn't have access to Protein Shakes or Soups (mostly because I didn't bring any, and I have to bring everything I want to eat).

Anyway, I tried to "push through" and just focus on taking tiny bites and chewing really well.

Unfortunately, that didn't go so well, and I ended up having another 2 pd episodes in the next 48hrs - likely from swelling and irritation from the first pb episode.

Needless to say, once I got home, I did 24hrs of liquids (protein shakes, soups), and then another 24hrs of soft foods.

Since then, I haven't had another problem.

I had my first PB earlier this week. I'm allowed mushies, but didn't bring anything to work. Rather than run to the grocery for cottage cheese or similar, I decided that I'd get chicken at subway, take small bites, chew well, and throw most of it away. Well, I must not have chewed well enough, because it happened.

Fortunately, I was eating in my office with the door closed, so no one saw me. I sipped some Water, and then waited until I got home that afternoon to try anything else. The cottage cheese went down all right, and no problems since.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
