I made it to GOAL!!

Recommended Posts

:thumbup::party::blink:

I made it to my [original] goal today!

I still want to lose another 15-20lbs so the work continues but I am beyond thrilled with my Lap Band experience! I started by pre-op diet on 8/16/07 - never did I think I would be able to lose 120lbs in less than 10 months! If *I* can do it – anyone can!!

I run 2 miles per day and I eat a balanced, healthy diet. I TRY to stick with whole foods, staying away from pre-packaged stuff and going out to eat. (my BIG weakness!)

I've been very lucky with the band. I've only had one fill of 2cc's in a 10cc APS band. I've never felt my band or any sense of restriction or had to change my physical eating style. Since I haven't really had any issues with hunger and I've lost very steadily, I agree with my doctor's policy not fill my band. Maybe there is something to the theory that the band placement alone is enough for some people?

The "easy" part is over, now for the real work. Maintaining ...

Next stop – plastic surgery. I’m starting consults this summer. I’m going to jump thru the insurance hoops and hopefully they will cover part of my Tummy Tuck, which I would qualify for at 18 months out from WLS.

I’m going to post my current before and after pics later today.

Thanks for all the support, great information and advice that this forum has to offer.

Congrats! Yeah for you. I am so excited. I think that we had a lot of the same philosophies when it came to losing weight. I had more than 1 fill, but everytime I did get one I ended up having to get it unfilled! I have lost my last 10 pounds being completely unfilled. My doc doesn't believe in giving fills unless you want and or need one. I NEVER hope to have another one.

As for the easy part being over...I totally agree. I am actually having some major anxiety over being at maintenance. I am so afraid of gaining weight that I am actually stricter than ever. We are trying to work through it, but it is tough going for me right now. I hope that you have better luck. I keep losing...and I truly am at my goal weight. I am in a size 4 and wil be even smaller after surgery in a few weeks.

Congrats again...we have come so far!

I am considering getting the lap-band as my weight as hindered alot of things I would like to do in life. I have gained so much weight and I would like get the surgery, however my insurance does not cover the cost.

Mine did not cover the lap-band surgery nor will it cover my PS, but the combined total of 27000$ (17000 for lap-band, 10000 for PS) is well worth it. People drop that on cars all the time...I will have this one for life!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
