I go in for surgery tomorrow. Is this something I want to see before? Will it scare me and make me all nervous?

I'm a nurse, and enjoyed watching this video, I had no idea that I could have found the actual surg. online, but alas, I should have! Oh man, it was so cool, and totally amazing...wow! I've seen other surgeries in person, but none hits home like seeing something that I have actually gone thru. I have no regrets, and if I had seen this prior to my surgery, I would have been even more comfortable than I was. My doctor is very skilled, and I have all the confidence in the world in him. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Wow great footage, I don't think I've ever seen such great footage of the surgery before, thanks for putting that up.

It also is a very good appetite suppressant:lol:!

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had video of our surgeries, kind of like the birth of babies videos that people have. Then when we're not doing well we could whip it out and say ok this is what I went through and it's not for naught!

Thanks for putting it up brandyII:thumbup:

To be honest, you don't need to see it now. I'd wait a while, not that it's scary but you probably have enough on your mind at the moment and I don't know how squeamish you are at watching surgeries, jmo, brandyII:smile:

I went through a period where I went nuts watching lap band surgery videos online. I found them fascinating and not scary.

I did watch one vertical sleeve one and that one was a bit :) but only because they really do cut out a big piece of the stomach and pull it up through the throat and mouth.

It really depends on whether you can handle seeing guts and a slight amount of blood. Some people can't.

I couldn't even get through the one in the drs office. Thankfully the dr took pity on me & didn't make me watch the whole thing. I don't need to see it to know how they do it.

Wow, that's pretty cool, didn't know they'd pull it through the mouth. What I want to know is if they have to go through all the trouble of moving that fat out of the way couldn't they have lipo'd a bit out while they were in there?

Okay, now you are making me doubt myself. I guess I'll have to go watch that video again! :)

Hey, I had the same thought the first time I watched one of these videos.

The other thing is, I'm not that grossed out by how fat my body is. I guess I'm good at ignoring it. But when I saw all that fat inside, I thought it was disgusting and it made me even more determined to do something about my weight. Sometimes I crack myself up.

It made me think of chicken!:)

I've watched a sleeve video and they only pulled it out the largest laproscopic incision. Why would they pull it up through the mouth? They don't even insert any instruments down through the mouth to begin with.

My doctor gave me a photo of my lap band in place the day of surgery. It was strange, I've never really looked at it. I'm not curious.

Don't listen to me. I think my mind is going. I was posting late at night and must have gotten mixed up with some other surgery.

It is not even physically possible to pull it up through the mouth because the stomach they cut away is outside the new stomach! I realized that this morning after a good night's sleep.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
