Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever had one?

I know what's involved for a straa test but my primary doc want me to have one before my lap band.

I have an abnormal EKG since forever due to open heart surgury when I was a kid (6). Repair valve but doc want stress test anyway. boo hoo!!!!

I guess it's better to do it just in case I code on the table.lol

Whatever it takes for a healthy surgery, Chicagoboy! I had an EKG, but no stress test. With your history, better to get that done. Ain't nuthin but a thang! (isn't that a song from the 80's or something? Where did that come from? I never say that?!)

I have heard of patients having stress tests before surgery. my friend had one prior to her gastric bypass too. i think its just to make sure that your heart can handle the surgery. i was afraid i would have to have one too, but when i consulted with my cardiologist, there was no need. i have had a murmer in my heart for a long time, but now its gone... you get on a tread mill and they hook you up to monitors...they will watch your blood pressure and your breathing. They monitor how much stress is put on your heart and respiratory system during different speeds on the tread mill. You are completely safe during this test. If you have any pain or you can't breath or your heart rate is abnormal they will stop the treadmill. I hope this has been helpful!

AS OF TODAY!! ONE WEEK TILL SURGERY WAAAHOOOO!

I had to have an EKG, plus a Nucular stess test. Cardio doctor wanted me to do a stress test, but being I was short of breathe all the time, he just gave me the nucular test....It wasn't fun, but over in no time....

Dr. Kwon coundnt figure out why the nuke test, since I had no pryor heart problems.

Go Figure...

I had to have the stress test done. The only thing I didnt like was running on that darn treadmill but really the test is nothing. They inject you with this solution and then you wait a while, then they take some pictures, run you on the treadmill and then take more pictures. You usually come back for the results.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
