I was banded on the 5th of march. I have had soda a few times...I have not had a problem with it. I love a ice cold diet coke on a hot day. I have found I can have most anything so long as I take it slow and have less than I did before the band.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Happy summer to you...

M Duke

I Was Told Today, At The Diet. That Carbonation Will Actually Stretch The Band, And Will Also Cause Acid Reflux. I Gave Up Soda Back In Oct. I Was A Diet Pepsi Drinker, And I Think It Is Worth It To Just Give It Up. Judy

I have been out for a little over 6 months and have only a few sips of soda. I do crave it sometimes, but I too know it will stretch your stomach and it doesn't make me feel very good when I had it.

I don't physically crave it - even though I was a Pepsi addict for years - but when I see it sitting on the grocery store shelf - I remember the taste and the sugar high it gave me. I can honestly say I haven't had a soda since April 29, 2008 and I really don't miss it all. I have no intentions of picking another one up. Although I did read somewhere that if you really want a soda you can open it up - put it in the frig and let it go flat (personally that sounds gross to me) but I guess if someone is desperate. My life is so much better without it!!

Most days, there are other ways to satisfy those pop cravings. Those PUR Water flavor additions help a lot-or so I've been told. Crystal Light, Propel Fitness Water, and sugar-free Kool-Aid all make mix-ins that you can carry with you for bottles of water.

On the days that nothing else will do but a diet coke or some ginger ale, I'll pour some in a glass and stir it as quickly as possible to get it flat. When you haven't had anything like it in several months and really need it--it still tastes good.

Lastly, if you're craving it because you need something fizzy on your tongue there are (I can't believe I'm saying this) some fizzy candies that aren't too bad on calories and carbs. The Jones Soda Candies come to mind. I would not recommend turning to candy. It's a slippery slope because one piece can too easily turn into the whole box. But darn-it, sometimes the cravings won't go away unless you have a small taste of what you're craving.

I wasn't going to say anything when I read this last night but I started thinking about it this morning and I felt I needed to share.

I don't know if you have tried to stop drinking soda in the past but when I have I would do great then I would treat myself one day. Then that became a once a week treat quickly escalating to a once a day then whenever I wanted. Just like everything else.

I was banded on 3/27 and I have not had a soda since a week prior to that. I have had severe cravings and have almost talked myself into it. But I remember what happened in the past. I don't want to know if I could handle drinking soda. If it causes me no problems then I know the whole pattern will start again.

I don't believe that soda in any form (diet) is good for your weight loss. I do miss it but I love me more. And there are a lot of other option when I want something more than Water.

Now is the time to stop bad habits and start good ones. OK. Just had get that off my chest. Thank you for reading :cursing:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
