The Door To My Future Is Now Open

Recommended Posts

I recieved my band yesterday and even know I'm in pain I feel extactic. I have waited and researched so long that part of me thought it would never happen. I could see the door to my healthy future, with no more back pain, no more embrassment for my husband and son, no more being embrassed of myself. The problem was I could never get in. Now, I feel there is now a big neon sign above the door that say "OPEN." Last night was not easy but, I have faith that everyday will be better. The worst part is the gas so far. My husband has no problem belching 30 times an hour and the funny thing is I have never been so envious of his musical talent until today. I just keep thinking I want to do that and need to do it so bad that I just want to pinch him.:D Anyway I just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know I'm home.

Welcome to bandland! It really does get easier each day! A heating pad helps some with the gas pains, also walking worked better than anything else for me!

Way to go Drama Queen!!! Welcome to bandland. You are in for quite a journey, now. Glad you walked through that door with the Open sign on it. Take good care of yourself, do the hard work, and it will be worth it! Congratulations!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
