Hey all I just came from a support group meeting in Radford Va and we gave out the web address for this site and I just wanted to put a post in here where it will be easy for anyone who goes home and looks up the site to find.

The Virginia thread is kind of fun to find it is under the *usa support groups* under *virginia*.

There is a TON of good information in here and a lot of GREAT support!!

If ya'll have any questions or need anything just give a hollar!!

Great seeing all of u at the meeting and I'll be there next meeting with my story of my surgery day!!!

Thanks for passing out the address, I am not the most computer literate person. It took me from that group meeting til yesterday to join and a whole day of navigating to find your thread, but here I am. I learned some really great things I never knew in just one day. Thanks Huggie Bear

Thanks for the welcome, Susan.

Huggie Bear, when is your surgery?

Hi! I'm new to the website, but am enthusiastic Lap Band girl. Had my surgery in October 2007 and have lost 70 pounds!!! Still have more to go,, but its been slow and steady! My husband and I are thrilled... its so great to be able to do things I couldn't before, and finally wear those "thin clothes" that have been in my closet before. Hope to be more heathly overall! Glad to know you and others like me are out there... all the best, gwen

Wow Gwen... 70 pounds since October... I only hope I can say that:unsure:

I was just banded on the third http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f181/its-really-real-65671/ I typed up a long babbling post if you wanna check it out.

I have been reading this site for it seems like forever and now here I am a week out yesterday and I think I am one of the luck ones because several of the people at the support group were talking about being hungry since surgery and I haven't been hungry yet... I am doing my liquid diet and drinking all my Water.... seems like all I do is drink all day.... but im crossing my fingers that I will stay that way and it will stay easy until it's fill time

I am struggling with getting in 1000 calories a day right now, I'm sure it will get easier when I get to mushies:drool:

I really can't believe it's real quite yet... guess when I get to real food again it will seem more real:rolleyes2:

Just trying to stay motivated and hoping for some good weight loss when I weigh in on the 19th:eek:

Kim

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
