I Can Hardly Wait!!!

WOW! 21 days till surgery. It is almost unbelievable! I have spent my whole 20's overweight & now at 33 I am finally going to make a difference in my body, self esteem, self image, self talk, etc. The list goes on & on. I am very excited & not at all nervous.

I am going to start all clear liquid diet next monday, Dr.'s orders. Yesterday I started all liquids, with low carb drinks, Water, tea & crystal light. I thought it would be easier to break me into the clear liquid phase. I did great!

I am so happy to be starting a new journey in my life! I pray all of us will do well & never go back to the old habits that got us here.

~~Gina~~

Good luck Gina,

I do envy you as I wish I could have done this while I was younger. I just had it done at age 55 and can't be happier with my results so far. Good luck and I am sure you will do great!

I am only 5 years older and wish I had been able to do it sooner too! I am only 1 day behind you, Gina, but I don't have to do a full liquid diet. Good luck and I will be thinking about you on the 17th as I make my preparations for the 18th!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
