yup...exactly... but i have a question... if u have the procedure done what would make u feel that it isn't for u? I figure that is why u would do hella research ups, and downs and everything... be sure it's what u want to do before u do it... even working out becasue it is going to take eating smaller portions, along with excercise to reach yr goal im sure... have u had any appts yet regarding info on the lap band?

Yeah if they unfill the band you can eat more but not as much as before but WHY my doctor said to me before he banded me, This is a tool not a magic band and if you come to me wanting it removed or unfilled we are gonna sit down and have a long talk because you didn't come to this decision easily to get banded. I wish you well, and hope it works out for you the way you need it to.

sincerely

Yes everybody has those last min question but most of us that have this surgery or obese or morbidly obese so we have tryed to eat better andto exercise and to be better, but hunger or emotions or just plain hard of trying sent us back to our old ways. So this is a tool and makes us accountable and responsible for or actions. Trust me I had the last minute jetters to. I found this site like 10 days before surgery because of my fears. Good Luck and take a leap of faith plus the guys seem to loose the weight faster so you one of the luck ones. Just go for it.

If you get the band and you did get restriction, you will feel full on a small amount of food. That is why it is different from dieting without the band.

If you aren't ready to commit to not eating sugar like candy, Cookies and cake, maybe you are right. The band is not going to get rid of cravings for junk food. You do have to do your part in this in order to lose the weight. It is definitely not a magic cure.

The biggest adjustment to post band life is not physical, it is psychological. Once you reach your sweet spot, you will not be physically hungry, needing to eat, or craving food. You will miss 'eating' though ("head hunger").

You will need to figure out what over-eating was doing for you (mentally), and that is what will cause you doubts. Was it stress relief, did eating numb unpleasant emotions, etc? There is probably something going on that is causing you to overeat, otherwise, you would just eat less, and get to a healthy weight, without surgery. I cannot tell you how many times, since my surgery, that I have just wanted to sit down, and veg out on the couch to a huge plate of Pasta at the end of a long day. That was what I did at the end of a stressful day before surgery. Obviously, now I could NEVER do that, but I still want that calming experience. That is one of the hardest adjustments to post-band life. It is not that I am hungry for a pound of Pasta. I miss sitting down, relaxing, and enjoying that plate of food. Getting the surgery is like an alcoholic going cold turkey (well..without the severe withdrawal symptoms).

I quickly figured out that I was going to need a little therapy to deal with "head hunger". I found a great therapist, and I now can cope with the psychological changes needed to make the surgery successful. Keep that in mind. The mental changes, are much harder than the physical ones..so be prepared ahead of time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
