OK, in 12 hours from now I will be the proud owner of a lap band! Does anyone have some last minute advice?

I do have one question, what are some essentials i need food wise for the next few days? What do I need to get from the store tonight, you know other then whats on the list?!

Also, did anyone do anything creative as far as before and after stuff, i.e. creative ideas for pictures, clothes, measurements ect....

I don't know what's on the list. My doc had me on Clear Liquids for a couple of weeks post surg, and to tell the truth, I had zero appetite for 2 wks or so. Make sure you have various flavors of broth, and different "crystal light" powders to mix up for when you get of all the Water. And do force yourself to sip lots of water. You'll be a new man very soon.

I'm a real believer in Isopure premade Zero Carb Protein drink. 40 grams of Protein in 20 ounces of Fluid, about 160 cals, I think. Get a couple six packs of that, and you're good for a fortnight.

Post-op you'll be a bit out of it for a day or two, but the pain will be a lot less than you think. Still, take it easy - take your time getting up and sitting or lying down. Keep your fluids up as best you can - Water and Protein drinks. You don't want to get dehydrated, which is all too easy at that stage.

Finally, best advice of all: WALK!

Walk as soon as you can - at NYU they have people up and walking in the recovery room. Big people lying around in bed getting dehydrated is a great way to develop a thrombosis in the legs. Walking gets you used to your new body, it uses energy, and, best of all, it annihilates the gas discomfort you'll get (pain or pressure in your left shoulder tip or back).

Seriously: GET WALKING!

And come back here and tell us how you're doing...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
