ME? I'm a riot act...I would have to purposely go up to her little "bag of cookies" and say..."YUM, what kind are they?" then take asniff...wait to hear her response, then gloat over my WLS decision!! Let her feel like she's pulling you down, then "shmack"!! Let her hear your new LION roar!!!! Others will actually applaud you because they too know what she's all about and what she's trying to do.

I don't even have a definite surgery date yet and I have heavy friends trying to persuade me not to have the surgery. I hear things like "Oh you look good just the way you are." and "I would NEVER voluntarily put myself under anesthesia just to lose a few pounds." and "I would be embarrassed to have anyone know I was having that surgery. You're not telling anyone, are you?"

I just look back and tell them that this is my decision to make and that I am doing this for me and my family. I want to feel healthy. I want to sleep good at night. I want to get out and hike and rollerblade and swim and run. I want to do all those things without wondering if I will die on the spot of a heart attack. I wonder each night if I will wake up in the morning.

I want to see my kids grow and their babies and maybe even their babies' babies. I want to live.

I want to look sexy for my hubby. He loves me as I am but he will not complain if I am a hot little hunny by his side and in his bed (sorry for too much info there but is true).

I am making this choose not for my friends but for me and those I love.

Don't let ANYONE get you down for the choice you have made.

I know what your going through. I have a co-worker that had the lap band.. she failed with hers gained all her weight back and then some ok lots.. now that I am scheduled to have mine.. she is furious.. she didn't think I would get through the process.. then since I am on my husbands insurance.. it's 100% covered.. made her even more mad.. when I came in this morning.. she was trying to make me eat muffins.. I already had my slim fast shake. she said oh but you can have just one.. I told her no I can't eat those when I have my surgery she said oh you can eat just one and I said no I don't want my efforts to go in reverse.. she said but I haven't had the surgery yet and I told her but I have already lost 10 lbs... then I asked her how she could eat breads and she got really quiet...

I usually get her back because she eats about 3-4 times more than I do at any one time.. I sometimes think she does it just to try and sabatoge me.. she eats all day long...

No doubt she's projecting herself on to you and your efforts. It shouldn't be your burden to carry. You seem good at keeping it together.

Don't slam me on this, but you might want to show her some sympathy for having an addiction/illness that she can't control. I'm sure she hates herself for it more than you realize and it comes out as daggars at you. I'm not saying be her best friend, but she's got to be torn up that the surgery didn't work for her and seeing you succeed is going to be painful.

Just a thought.

I do try to help and but just when I think we are making headway she says something like "that sweater is cute but the stripes make you look like a football field"... she wanted to go on the liquid diet with me when I start mine for my surger but then I told her that my doctor doesn't require it... I told her today that I might do it anyway if she wants to do it with me.. she said she is thinking about getting another fill. she took home 3 bags of bread from our luncheon today and a box of honey and butter.. she lives alone with her 3 year old daughter.. it's really sad...

I was banded on May 9th too! I am easing back to work. Mainly because I'm really tired and having the feeling of having something "stuck" in my throat. Just developed that in the past two days. So I'm not even that excited about soft foods. Have eaten a few already, baked fish and refried Beans, hoping to get Protein back to give me more energy.

On your co-workers, that is too bad! Yeah, I sometimes wish I hadn't shared what I've done until later but I'm in charge of a small office and my assistant's husband is the one that referred me after he had lap band. They are great but I feel like I"m under a microscope. I'm down 15 lbs from surgery date so that is helping but I am on a wild emotional rollercoaster. And impatient to have some energy and not have this "stuck" feeling.

Congratulations to you Tourisqueen! I have been on pureed for almost 2 weeks...but got the clear to move to soft foods. So...dummy me today while at Sams decided to try a little piece of fajita meat. I have had that lump in my throat ever since. I am trying to decide if it is stuck or not. I have been able to drink and ate a little fish but feel like I could throw up!! I'm a little worried. I too...wish I hadn't told people at work. I am not eating with anyone right now like I used to because I don't want to be stared at while I eat. Hopefully people will move on soon!! Good luck in going back to work and I hope you feel better soon. I do think the more Protein I eat the better off I am.

Laurinda-Yes...in fact both of them are heavy and always talk about loosing weight but it usually lasts a day. The one handing out the Cookies is acting so strange...it is hard to even figure out what she is thinking. In my previous attempts to diet she would be the first one trying to sabatoge it by offering me stuff...so who knows. I love the saying "Thin feels better than food tastes" When I am all slim and trim...I will tell them that!! ha ha. Thanks for the encouragment!

I think getting a sign up in your office or at your desk saying "THIN FEELS BETTER THAN food TASTES" would be appropriate. She's probably just feeling self-conscious and jealous at your new found weight loss and confidence.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
