I finally got a FILL

Recommended Posts

Now I cannot really eat! I finally got my first fill last Tuesday. I figured it would take a few days to get used to eating again, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. What gives. I love the fact that I 3 oz of food is filling me up, but I cannot stop. I am so used to having ZERO restriction, and eating whatever and how much I want that I don't know when to stop. I also keep drinking when I eat since I was doing that before the fill as well.

How long will it take to get used to this again? It feels like I just had the surgery again, only no pain. Did you all go through this? Should I go in for a small unfill or just try my hardest to get used to it. I went to Applebee's at the mall yesterday and couldn't even finish my Soup, and it took me like a half hour.

And one more ?, I am constantly burping, is this also normal, or even par for hte course? I see most of you are on your 2nd fills. You are all so lucky. I was starving for like 5 weeks and eating everything in site, now i'm dying cause I can't eat at all. It really sucks.

Thanks for letting me bitch!!!!!

I'm not sure if you are too tight or not. I personally had to teach myself t eat normally all over again after my last fill. I have found that if I take a bite, chew it to death, wait a full minute, take another bite, chew it to death, wait another minute, etc that I am able to eat exactly what I need. It is slowing down that is so hard to remember. It has been almost a month since my last fill when I hit the good restriction and took me 2 weeks of getting stuck and frustrated but I am totally satisfied with my 3 meals and almost never get hungry between meals.

If this does not work for you, then you might be too tight and need to get unfilled a bit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
