Anyone use Alli while being banded?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious if anyone out there uses the weight loss pill Alli while being banded or has anyone's doctor advised them not to while being banded?

Thanks!

Doc suggested I try it due to slow weight loss. I tried it for about a week but didn't like the messy side effects. I made sure that during that week I was consuming less than 1200 calories and less than 25 grams of fat each day, but the side effects were still too messy for me...

Messy, is a nice word to explain the impact it had on me. If you do try it, do not try to pass gas unless you are on a toilet "period." The consequences are just too awful to relay in words. If you do want to try it, buy some panty liners....no wait, buy the pads designed for overnight use!!! Otherwise you will be buying all new panties and pants, and do not try passing gas while seated on a couch or chair cuz it will go right thru clothing and stain the seat!!!! I took it pre and post band and it didn't really even have a good enough effect on weightloss for me to continue taking it.

yeah, pretty nasty. And you think after 2 days, huh, this isn't so bad. I can do this. I don't know what everyone is talking about....and then all of a sudden, you run screaming for the toilet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
