Recommended Posts

well...i hadn't been on here for a while. its nice to see you all again and doing wonderfully! i have to get back on my path. i did reach one major lifetime goal, i was able to get pregnant and have my special little guy. i revised my goal to 185 from 150<- i think that used to be it?? when i was weighing 208, i was at a size 16 i was okay with that but i knew that loosing 20-30more lbs was going to be "it" for me.

im so jealous of you all!!!! LOL! keep it up!!!!

Here's my update since my last entry back in June. I got back up to 185 by October. Then my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. I decided to get another fill since i was able to down 2cups with no regrets. Had total of 7.5cc in my 10cc band. Things got hectic with my dad beginning his treatments that I didn't take time to notice my band was too tight. I had hard time getting fluids down. Had lots of heartburn, chest pain, and vomitting. My dad was put in hosp last week with pneumonia and neutropenia so that made things worse. I finally went back and had .25cc remv'd last Thursday and things are MUCH better. My dad's back home starting back on his treatments and my weight's already back down to 178!!!! Do not hesitate to get a little unfill if this happens to you!

Happy New Year to all the May 2008 bandsters! It's been forever since I've posted but I've been so busy. I really haven't lost any more weight. However, during the holidays I gained 10lbs but I have since then taken them off. That was a really scarely feeling. I'll be going in for a fill on Feb. 11. Keep up the great work!

Stuck at 70 lbs loss - but, consider that I have not been paying much attention to what I am eating - I have not gained an ounce since getting banded!

I've lost 111 pounds... and I'm not done, but I feel great. Its really really hard for me to look at pictures of myself from before. I am about 1,000 times more self concious now, too. Does anyone else feel that way?

Anyway, I have another hundred (or there about) to lose, but I'm up for it! Might I recommend to anyone that has an Iphone or Itouch the "Lose It!" app? Its a fab. way to count calories

Congrats Sara, I use that Lose it ap and I love it! Always with me and the database is pretty extensive. And I like how I can go to previous meals and just copy them as I tend to have some of the same things a lot.

I am down 115 pounds. Wow to say that out loud is eye opening. I have 10 to 15 stubborn pounds to go. I am at 171 and am 5'9". I am wearing a medium shirt and size 10 pants. I think maybe I will be in an 8 or at least some 8s when I finish with those last few pounds.

YOU ALL are doing GREAT

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
