Who has kept it a secret?

its not that I care what other people think, I have no problem swimming in public or going to the gym.

But, I was thinking that since I was paying for the operation I might as well go for maximum value for my dollar....I thought that it would be a credit to me at work, if everyone thought I lost the weight without surgery.

Lies are never good. Even implied lies. You don't have to tell, but I find this attitude a little unnerving.

I told everyone.

Just get ready for the question "how much weight have you lost now" everyone that knows will ask you every time they see you. I only told a hand full of people and that is too many in my opinion. I am tired of the question!!

I've chosen to tell a number of friends I trust, and my sister and my kids. What got me was, a few weeks ago, my husband was on the phone in a rare call to his mother, and suddenly I heard him say, "By the way, Orea's working to get lap band surgery!" I couldn't believe my ears. Now everyone on his side of the family will know. Let's just say I wasn't planning to put it in my bleeping Christmas letter this year! So, with great restraint I later asked, "Did it ever occur to you to ask me before you told your mom about my surgery?" He replied," Well, I did get a little twinge right before I opened my mouth." Duh.

I told him I never blab his personal medical information to my friends -- because he meets them from time to time. (Such as ED!) I've been married to him for 34 years and his idiocy still amazes me. I love him dearly, but sometimes I'd just like to whack him upside the head with a 2 x 4!

I have a brother with whom I am not close. He actually called me recently and left a voice mail. He said he'd like to know what's going on with me and my life. I don't have a clue as to what to say. I don't want to tell him about my female troubles. I don't particularly want to tell him about the band surgery I hope to have this summer. How can I say, I'm really busy these days but I don't want to tell you why! LOL

I tend to agree with you, that is why I'm having to ask around a bit.

I havn't told very many people. My mom and dad know, but my two brothers do not. Partly because my older brothers fiance wanted to get the band about a year ago and she couldn't afford it and didn't get it done. Shes kinda weird and she would take me getting the band as "being mean and rubbing it in her face". So I havn't told them so I don't have to deal with her. My younger brother doesn't need to know, although I'm sure I'll tell him when/if he notices. I've told a few close friends who have all mostly been supportive. I told my boss at work and one other co-worker. My boss has had some PS so I knew she would be totally cool with it and give me time off and be ok when I need time off to go get fills etc. The other lady I told at work is miss sunshine always postive 110% of the time, so I know she will always keep me upbeat. I DO NOT want the other girls at my work knowing, they are all skinny and kinda bitchy and I don't want anything held against me and I don't want to be talked about behind my back. I havn't told any of my extended family, although I don't think I will have a problem telling them later once I have lost the majority of what I want to lose. Just my two cents!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
