Most Helpful questions asked at seminar

Recommended Posts

I am attending my 2nd seminar on Thursday (did not care for MD at first place). Can you tell me some great questions that were asked that you learned something from? I have been researching and reading on this site for about 2 months now, but I am sure there are things that I have not thought about.

Ironically, I work for a hospital in the reimbursement area and my boss came to me this week asking me to research lap band because we may start it at my hospital.....how weird, I know he doesn't know that I am looking into this for myself personally.

Thanks for anything you can share.

I didn't go prepared with any questions, although I was very grateful for the people who had the foresight to ask questions. The things I found helpful to know are the types of pre surgery tests they'll ask you to do, the average length of time until you're banded, things you can do now to prepare, and of course, do they have any patients you can talk to. My doc brought some after banded patients who spoke to us as well, and they were awesome to get a non doctor perspective.

Good luck!

questions,

1. How many band surgerys has the surgeon done.

2. Will he/ she do the actualy operation? as opposed to teaching someone else to do it.

3. What is his/her complication rate.

4. Is the office available 24/7 for post op problems?

5. What is the fee for fills?

6. Will a catheter be used during the operation.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
