Restriction ~ I had it, now I don't... help!

Recommended Posts

So, for the last month I thought perhaps my band slipped or something beause I could barely eat one packet of oatmeal (or anything else). Suddenly a few days ago I could eat again. I'm not even sure how restricted I am. I just ate 3/4 of a pork chop, a huge plate of mashed tatoes and a bunch of corn. I am so confused about what is going on. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you notice whether your hunger level changed while eating this feast?

Haha...that cracked me up.

Im not sure what this could mean...Have you been losing since only being able to eat a packet of oatmeal?

Hey there

My Dr told me that he don't understnad why a person can eat a little bit one day and a while plate the next. I ask him about eatting after a fill and that's what he told me. I guess your stomache or body is just different. So I wouldn't worry about it to much but if it's to big of a problem just call your Dr.

Another thing to think about is - as you lost weight the fat that surrounds your stomach also shrinks down and will make your band a bit looser. But if you think it was a sudden BIG difference then it doesn't hurt to phone up your doctor and see what they have to say.

Side question - is your ticker up to date?

Yes, my hunger has changed. I am hungrier and able to eat much more than I had during the tight period. I can eat SO much more than before.

I made an appt to see the doc on Sat. Crossing my fingers that I didn't mess anything up!!! I can't believe how much I can eat right now. It's like I have had the restriction I have now for the last seven months except for those few weeks of being really tight. Weird... thanks for all the input.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
