How long were you off work?????

Recommended Posts

Ok so question..... How long were you off work after your surgery? I am just curious because I am putting in my medical leave request and I am not sure how long to tell them I will be gone?

I had surgery on Fri and went back to work on Tues. I could have gone back on Monday but it was a holiday. I know other people needed more time off work. I have a desk job.

Same as ATD for me. I don't have a very labor intensive job. I had my surgery on Friday and went back to work on Tuesday no problem.

I was off a week just because of my shift schedule, but could have gone back much sooner.

I talked to a woman at my doc's office who went back to work THAT NIGHT after surgery. I couldn't have done that, but I felt pretty darn good except for some soreness on day 5, so if I could have walked around enough . . . I could have gone back pretty much right away.

I was told that I would be able to go back to work after a week or two, but our employee health department governs when you come back. Since it says in my job description that I have to be able to lift 75 lbs, they won't let me back until the MD will release me with no restrictions, and that won't be until six weeks! I have the time saved up and have worked this job for 30 years without a break longer than two weeks, so I'm sorta looking forward to it! Just one more incentive to get the band!

Wow, i cant understand how some people can get better so quick. Im at day 7 today. and still feel awful. so weak. and nauseous sometmes. let alone the discomfort. there is no way i could handle a day at work, i cant even manage a walk to the corner of the steet! my dr told me beforehand that i would need 2.5 weeks off. at this rate i can imagine needing much more than that. yes my job is a desk job too.

Wow Jet, I'm sorry you're having such a tough recovery! I think I walked an hour a day (and I'm not a big exerciser) the first few days. It just goes to show that people can have vastly different experiences.

I know you said you're feeling miserable, but I found that the few days I WAS feeling the worst were the days I didn't move much. Can you manage a few SHORT five-minute walks around just to keep your muscles moving? For me, moving was a huge key to relieving soreness.

I really hope you're feeling better soon!

Walking is the best thing to speed up the recovery. I was glad everyone here told me that.

I walked every day and felt better every day.

OH WOW! How great is THAT!! My boss would never tell me to wait longer than I could lol.

I had surgery on a Thursday and came back on Wednesday. I was fine with it but did leave an hour early. Today is my second day back. I have a desk job too. Sitting up in a chair all day is tough on the port incision and REAL tough on legs that have been propped up for 6 days - except while doing the daily walks. I just prop them up on something and keep on working ..... or reading LBT lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
