Can I eat too much after a fill?

Recommended Posts

I am on pureed and I took some meatballs (pre-made turkey) and finely chopped them in the food processor and then added sauce and some cheese to it. I ate it for lunch but could eat the entire two cups. Is it just because it's sliding through? Should I be worried? The fill was tight, I saw it under fluro, could it just be a fluke week and it will kick in later? What do you all think?

I know how you feel. My second fill did NOTHING for me. Matter of fact, I was more hungry after that fill, but supposively they put 1cc in. They were like, "eat liquids for a day and pure'd for a day", but I had no restriction whatsoever and was starving. It is odd that they used fluro and you didn't get much restriction. It looks like you are pretty far into the banding that you should have good restriction by now.. and your numbers are pretty high there.. so it's probably just some fluke.

My fills (10 of them) have all taken a few days if not an entire week to kick in. Makes no sense to me but that seems to be the way it goes for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
