Wow! It's been really, really quiet for the Double Vs lately. What's up? I really miss this wonderful group. You guys have the best threads in the whole forum - but then again, I have a bias. Come on, show some love! Or just entertain me, dang it!

I've been busy finishing up some assignments and studying for finals. I can't wait until this week is over. Then I'll have the whole summer off, well school at least (I work full time and go to school full time).

Sorry Gang! Contrary to my posting patterns from last week, I am a confirmed workaholic and now that I'm back to school I work crazy hours. I have been worried about what I'm missing here so hopefully starting tomorrow night I'll be able to catch up on everyone! I miss you too!

I went on a 7 day cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel!! WOOHOOO.. sadly, I gained a few pounds (3). Even with working out every day on the ship, and eating the sugar free Desserts and totally limiting myself, I still gained. My other friends gained 8-14 pounds each, so I actually was on the low end scale.

I'm guessing it was from the pina colada's and banana daquiries I drank! lol. but, what the hell. I only do this once a year. I get my fill tomorrow and everything will be right on track again! I use to gain 8 pounds on the 5 day cruises I took. I actually think this is a small victory for me.. and the fact that I worked out every day in the fitness center. I'm still proud of myself! I also was not restricted when I left... another victory!!

Awww... ezma!

Hey guys, I'm here. Just been taking a break, and now I'm out travelling for work. I will only be able to check in during the evenings.

crystal, WOW! Sounds like you had an exciting time. Don't worry about the three pounds. It could also just be a little Water retention. It happens sometimes, especially with the salt air. It sounds like you were good, so I doubt you really gained three pounds.

Fantastic everyone, good luck with your finals ladies!

Hey gang....

Been traveling for work...UGH!! Good news...I FINALLY got a decent fill!! After having only 1cc put in at my last two fills, the doc gave me 3cc last Thursday!! Helllooooo restriction! I had a one minor "stuck" incident, but so far so good!! Any I've dropped about six pounds. So, I'm happy to finally know what restriction feels like. We'll see how long it lasts!!

How's everyone else doing? Where's my beloved Lori (Rhapsody)?!! Remember, we have to JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

Hiyas everyone! Hey Amy *HUGS* I'm here :yesnod: . . . I read the forums almost everyday, but not posting as much (ok I need to do better!). Congratz Amy on your restriction, and the 6 pounds lost! :w00t: I'm so happy to hear you have some restriction now. I had my second fill yesterday, just one cc this time (my doctor said the same as yours, if you're losing weight, they usually don't give you a fill). But because of my symptoms (hunger, no restriction) he went ahead and gave me a fill (and I really don't mind going slow with this). Right now I'm still on just liquids (for 24 hours), so I really can't tell if I have much restriction. However, even being on liquids, I'm not as hungry, so things are good. My weight loss has picked up again (oy I hate those plateaus!).

Coolcrystal, your cruise sounds awesome! I sure wouldn't worry about 3 pounds, the fun time would be worth it! We have the band, but need to enjoy life too. :hurray: And the fact that you had no restriction is indeed a victory! Congratz to you for hanging in there.

Just keep swimming everyone, and keep in touch!

Thanks! it was a total blast! I'll attempt to post a pic of me and my hubby on the cruise! (if i can remember how to do it. LOL). But, yeah, I feel great. I got rather spoiled with thier nice fitness center and sauna! we go to the city fitness center with crappy equipment that's rusted and old.. and to have that nice stuff for a week was fantastic. LOL. We might have to join a 24 hour fitness now.

One is in the cigar room on the ship. he smoked a real cuban cigar, so he was excited. and the second is in grand cayman islands. you can see our ship in the background.

Good day to all of you! Hey Lil Miss *:blushing:* how ya doing? I am guilty of the same crimes..too much time expended on work and foregoing my fun in the forum!! Man, I think we ALL need to go on a cruise! Great job with only 3 pounds?? That is SUPER!!:biggrin2: I can gain 3 pounds on the weekends easily and here you were on a cruise!! Good going! I'm checking out some of the threads on those bandsters that are having issues with food! I just had a small fill and so I'm checking to see how often and how much all the other bandsters are versus my naughty episodes!! You all enjoy your day and I'll be around in here somewhere!!

Hi Queenie! Missed ya!! :blushing: I was just wondering about you...

Don't worry, I'm far from perfect - but the weight still finds its way off my body. Hang in there. I've only got 2.5cc in a 10cc band. I can pretty much eat anything I want still (mostly). I just get full so much faster than I ever did before. That mixed in with the exercise routine adds to much weight loss.

I wish you the best! :biggrin2:

Well Lil Miss, you deserve it! Look how much you've knocked off! You're doing fantastic!! I went in on the 17th and confessed to the doc that I was cheating..not all the time just once in a while and asked if maybe I could use a little fill for my hunger pangs! :confused2: Well he only put .6cc in my number 12 band and now we're feeling the tighten up (5.6 total)~so much so that what I was eating isn't going down as easily! Could be my own fault for not chewing enough but I wonder because when I swallow it's like mush but maybe my bites are too big?? AWK!! Such a dilemna!! Having a rough time trying to find the right foods and the right amount on my baby spoon! :wink2: Still keeping my exercise up! Went down one size in my clothes!! I'm happy about that for sure!!:blushing: You inspire me!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
