Let's not even go there. Because of that one thing, I ended up in Mexico, paying cash. Today, I am 80 pounds less and no longer depressed.

My eval was quick and painless. They wanted to know if I ever thought about suicide, been treated for mental illness and there were questions about how long I've been overweight. I guess they want to make sure you can handle the life changes that are ahead. I'm sure you will do fine. Good luck

I really enjoyed my psych eval. She went over my medical & social history . She talked to me about having a long term plan in place after the "honeymoon" period of the lap band is over. We also talked about keeping your mind & body on the same page after surgery. She told me about the problems some people have w/ alcohol, gambling, etc afterwards and asked me to promise to come back if those things became an issue. I was supposed to take a test ($180), but she decided against it saying I didn't need to. I found the experience very enlightening, interesting, and I learned a few things, too.

Mine was great. Very nice counselor talked to me about 30 minutes. She was very personable and we seemed to more or less chit chat. Hopefully you will get somebody as sweet as I did. Good Luck!!!:(

Mine was about a ten page quiz with weird questions. Then the Physch. came in and we talked a bit about a few things. The only thing that he was concerned about was when I told him I was very surprised that I didn't miss diet coke (after drinking tons of for years), he likened me to an alcoholic. (I've never drank alcohol, ever!) Whatever. I passed with no problem, though I don't know the criteria needed to pass.

i had my eval last week on 4/17 and i was approved by insurance co. yesterday... eval consisted of a 500 true/false questionare and then an hour long talk with the dr. --wanting to make sure that i had done my research and that i knew what some of the complications could be and that i was ready to change my lifestyle to make this tool for losing weight work, asked me if i was ever depressed or suicidal...nothing too hard to answer...alot of the questions he asked were funny to me..i passed with flying colors just had to wait for the report to be typed up and sent to the bariatric center

Mine was fast and easy. We talked about an hour about all sorts of things including my expectations for surgery, my history, any health issues, my family's mental health history, and my expectations after surgery. I told him I have taken medication for depression in the past and my father suffers from depression, and he still said he thought I was a good candidate for surgery. I had no written part to my evaluation either.

Good luck to you!

Well I was already seeing a shrink for some other things, so it was no big deal for me. She just bascially had to say that I was aware of all the changes that I would have to make and that she is confident that I am able to make my own decisions regarding my health.:)

Vee,

I mentioned that my mom has Manic Depression, OCD and so many other things and they let me pass with just a sentence about how I have to eat Breakfast and lunch. Not just wait until dinner and make bad on the run choices. Still working on it. She never even commented about my mom's problems.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
